Earlier this month, US Army Education Division representative SFC Garza stopped by to meet and discuss the potential changing of the Ranking from Tier II to Tier I for Santana High School.
What does this all mean?
Students interested in joining the military must take an aptitude test called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Depending on the tier that the high school has been categorized in, the students must meet a minimum score to be eligible to enter the military. This meant that students from Santana would need to score a minimum of a 50 on the test to be accepted into the Army. After a productive meeting, SFC Garza and the US Army have agreed to change the school’s program and the tier level was changed to a Tier I. This means that Santana High School graduates now may meet a minimum score of 35. This is a great feat for Santana High School students.
